Approximately 100 monarch butterflies (D. plexippus) from around the world, as well as nine relatives (other Danaus species), were sequenced with 10-20x coverage. Raw reads were mapped to the v3 assembly for SNP calling. A series of population genomic analyses were then performed to decipher the history of the monarch's evolutionary origin and global dispersal, and characterize the genes and pathways associated with migratory behavior (Zhan et al., 2014). Related SNP data are now available on MonarchBase.

Bulk download for whole genome data

We currently manage data in a SQL server database for fast searching. Limited by the space of server, MonarchBase does not maintain flat files of whole-genome data for all samples. If necessary, bulk data retriving is available upon request. Please email Dr. Kronforst or us with specifying your requirements. Raw sequencing reads are also available on SRA.
